The fact that you have found this website indicates that you are, or someone you love is, likely experiencing a traumatic event involving campus sexual assault. We express sincere condolences, from the entire staff. Survivors of sexual assault and their families often demand that comprehensive changes be imposed upon the institutions that cause or failed to prevent trauma. Hence, we measure our effectiveness by things equally important to the amount of money our clients receive through a settlement or judgment obtained at trial, though we have successfully obtained (and collected) tens and tens of millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts. We have created institutional and legislative changes, and so too have our clients, using their strength, our advice, and the funds we have obtained for them. Together, we have shared the unique “relief” such non-economic accomplishments bring.
Survivors of campus sexual assault have meaningful options for seeking justice, regaining the upper-hand, and beginning the process of putting life back together. Our team’s school litigation experience – paired with the national Title IX movement expertise of Cari Simon – make us uniquely effective advocates for people who have suffered rape or sexual assault in schools, universities, fraternities and sororities. We also defend represent survivors of sexual assault and violence defend in lawsuits brought against them by perpetrators. These lawsuits are often based upon alleged defamation, and are almost always intended to harass and punish survivors for coming forward in campus proceedings to pursue their rights. We also help campus sexual assault survivors bring counterclaims against perpetrators in these lawsuits because, ultimately, sexual assault survivors are entitled to dismissal of the defamation claims and entry of judgment on their claims for sexual assault, battery and infliction of extreme emotional distress.
The Fierberg National Law Group and School Violence Law are uniquely positioned for campus sexual assault cases because we have close relationships with the country’s leading nonprofit advocacy groups, with whom we regularly confer, and, at times, “partner” on cases to increase a victim’s ability to obtain justice and cause systemic change. Such groups include: National Crime Victim Law Institute; Clery Center for Security on Campus; Public Justice Foundation; Know Your IX; Harvard Gender Violence Program; National Crime Victim Bar Association; and National Center for Victims of Crime. We have served as lead counsel in sexual assault lawsuits, administrative complaints, mediation, and school disciplinary proceedings in numerous states, including Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. We build legal teams combining local attorneys and national expertise so you get the best legal representation wherever you are.
